Industrial Visit to High Voltage Direct Current Grid

The visit, linked with Power System Protection and Switchgear Engineering, aimed to give students practical exposure to modern transmission and protection systems. Students gained knowledge of HVDC transmission principles, major substation equipment, and auxiliary supplies. They observed various control room devices, relays, and operator panels. Engineers explained different protection schemes adopted in the substation. Integration of SCADA with HVDC systems was also demonstrated. The visit significantly enriched students’ understanding by linking theoretical concepts with real industrial applications.
